What is coaching?

Coaching is a series of conversations that will help you get from where you are now to where you want to be. If you’re unsure what direction to take, coaching can help you figure it out. By working out what’s truly important to you, you can make sure your daily life is in line, so you’ll feel happier.

Coaching is based on the view that you already have the answers deep down, but haven’t been able to pinpoint them or put them into action.

For coaching to be effective you need to focus on what you want to change, and you must be ready and willing to take action, so you make the difference you want in your life.

How does coaching differ from therapy, counselling, mentoring and training?

In therapy or counselling you spend more time analysing your past and how that may be holding you back. Coaching is forward-looking and involves creating steps for you to achieve your goals.

Coaching is not mentoring or training, where expertise is passed on from the specialist to you. Quite the contrary – you’re the expert on you. As your coach I help you tap into your inner wisdom and resourcefulness to find the solutions that are right for you.

What is NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

It consists of a set of theories, tools and techniques to determine how people receive, store and recall information. By understanding how someone thinks, we can improve our communication and connection with them and help them re-program the negative thought patterns that are holding them back into positive, empowering beliefs that will propel them forward with confidence, success and happiness.

Where does the coaching take place?

Face-to-face coaching is held at my consulting office on Beursstraat in Amsterdam (for corporate coaching it is also possible that I come to your company premises)

Coaching sessions can also take place by telephone, with the client initiating the call or Skype session.

How long is each session?

A session lasts 45-60 minutes.

The only exception is the first session which is usually 60-90 minutes. This gives us time to cover any questions you may have, and to run through how we’ll be working together and what you can expect from your sessions, so that you’re happy with everything before we begin.

How many sessions should I have?

To see the benefit I recommend a series of 6 sessions or more.

How often should I have a session?

You can choose weekly, fortnightly or monthly sessions. It depends on your schedule, the nature of your issue, and the actions you set yourself between each session. Contact me to see what’s right for you.

What if I need to cancel or re-schedule?

As careful planning goes into each session it’s important that you give me sufficient notice of any changes to our arranged appointments. This also encourages you to remain committed to your coaching.

Conditions for cancelling or re-scheduling:

Please note sessions will end at the allocated time, so to get the full benefit it’s best to be punctual.
